hi Fly-forum,

I was nicely surprised to see this beautiful fly.
But is was just for a few seconds..

I think it is Polyporivora sp., but is it possible to say what specie?

In the Netherlands there are two Polyporivora sp.:

1. Polyporivora ornata (Meigen, 1838)
2. Polyporivora picta (Meigen, 1830)

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
