Hello, using Papeīs and Povolnyi & Verves' keys it seems fit M. punctata (no vissible lines in thorax, colour of abdomen, 3 well defined spots on terguites..) but these are the species recorded in Spain
Miltogramma aurifrons
Miltogramma brevipila
Miltogramma iberica
Miltogramma oestracea
Miltogramma punctata
Miltogramma ruficornis (= murinum a px-sar)
Miltogramma taeniata
Miltogramma testaceifrons

I havenīt found any key nor description for M. aurifrons, in case it is Miltogramma, cpuld anyone discard M. aurifrons and really say M. punctatum (or say the genera in case itīs not Miltogramma?)

Photographs taken by Miguel Yuste (used with permission http://www.biodiv...earch.html)
- in Segovia (Central Spain)
- in a city garden
- 17th. july (2010)

Thanks again :)

A lateral view, the spider was really small!

The lateral spot of terguites (seen in the upper view) become in this lateral view a long band

This is not M punctata as punctata has dark antennae.

M aurifrons is similar to M germari (missing on your list) and very different from your specimen.

You are missing another species on your list: Miltogramma rutilans

and I am convinced that your specimen is indeed M rutilans. Tolra nor Fauna Europaea mention that species from Spain. But I have it from Spain myself.

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
