Hello,
I was sitting by the lake in Villeneuve d'Ascq (Nord, France) on September 10, 2026, when this Chaoboridae landed on the black metal frame of the bench.
I was only able to take the photo from above.
The website "Le monde des insectes" suggests the species Chaoborus flavicans.
Does that seem possible to you ?

 The three species of Chaoborus s. str. are hard to distinguish.
