Hi, I can't identify this S. , please help. Got it April 24th, this year in Germany, Lower Saxony, Celle, close to a small river.
Thanks for your support,
Norbert
Thanks all readers and for the comments, but after all, for me it's not clear which nice fly shows us her back here
Norbert

Now it's identified, thanks

Hello,

I don't know Eristalis jugorum in nature, but this fly looks a lot like Myathropa florea to me.
Best regards,
Jürgen

Hi Juergen,
thanks for your comment, I didn't know these species, so I'm not able to decide which one it is now. Cool

In summer we have lots of E. jugorum here. This picture does not show E. jugorum. Look in the gallery.
Best regards Maja

With these thorax markings and the abdomen colouration I am sure, it IS Myathropa florea. I would bet on it...
Best regards,
Jürgen

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
