If I followed the key right this should be Tolmerus cingulatus with prey. But I am still learning.
Braunschweig, Northern Germany, 12.08.2021.

(The prey could be from Tachinidae like Ectophasia sp.)
Greetings,
Frank.

I think it is an other Tolmerus sp. because the posterior side of the front femur is partly black and I can't see the ring on the middle tibia.
Greetings,

Thanks Reinoud!
So I have to check more pictures to find out the right species, if possible at all.

Greetings,
Frank.

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
