A fresh addition to my collection, a named and described species, hardly seen by anyone of now live dipterists. Holotype, to my knowledge, was destroyed by dermestids (xpt one wing on the slide attached to its pin.

Any ideas?

Dear Valery

May you can tell the difference between the Galada and Terellia genus?

Now with the new techniques in museums is rather hard to have dermestids around attacking---

Terellia is, in fact, a paraphyletic genus that needs certain rearrangement. The quadratula group of species http://8083419975...PZMg%3D%3D, or at least its part, if considered a separate genus, must be Galada Hering. The differences are mainly morphological. At the moment, I merely am waiting for DNA evidences that Terellia serratulae+ ruficauda groups are closer to Chaetostomella+Chaetorellia than to other grops (colon-virens, Cerajocera). Now, the evidences are purely genitalic or larval.

very nice photos, Valery.

Are there more paraphyletic genera in Tephritidae besides the Terellia?

Rhagoletis, for instance, with Zonosemata and Carpomyia, which are just lineages inside Rhagoletis.

In Ulidiidae, Otites (with Dorycera inside).
