Hi Carnifex, It looks more to be a Piophilidae. It's genae are too wide. The wing venation is off. And the frontal tarsae are widenened. This then resembles Protopiophila latipes. Regards, Ectemnius |

Oh, yes you are right, and the name latipes says it all  . The tarsae are very conspicuous. After seeing Fungomyza, I stopped looking critically at it, as I didn't expect such a similar fly, also coming to mushroom traps, in another family. I wonder if these similarities constitute some sort of mimicry?Btw, the other flies caught were all Drosophila testacea. Cheers! I checked on fauna-eu, and there is only one entry for each Piophila and Protopiophila. What is the actual status for Middle Europe?
