This morning I found this little fly on my window. I think it is Tachinidae. What kind of Tachinidae is this? size 5-8mm Is it Phryxe nemea ? http://robertheemskerk.nl/FB/Tachinidae_2287CP1FBLR.jpg http://waarneming.nl/waarneming/view/100050701?_popup=1 Edited by Robert Heemskerk on 16-03-2015 21:32 Greeting, Robert Heemskerk ---- WWW: http://robertheem...ndedag.htm --- |

Hi Robert, You are way off. It is a Sarcophagidae: Oebalia minuta, formerly known as rufitarsis. Larvae in wasp nests in twigs of Sambucus and the like. Possibly flowers inside your house ? Theo |

Thank you Theo, I now see there is no 'gevorkte steel' in the wingvain, that what is so typical for Tachinidae. I thought I saw this T in the wing but it is not a real T. Long time ago I visited Diptera.info Greeting, Robert Heemskerk ---- WWW: http://robertheem...ndedag.htm --- |

I don't follow you, Robert. It is not possible to separate Sarcophagidae from Tachinidae by wing venation (though there are some rules of thum. And I do not understand what fork you are referring to. Theo |

I think I 've to search my diptera-book and find out what the hard difference are between sarcophagidae and Tachinidae. I thougt the CuA1 wingvain of Tachinidae didn't reach the wingedge? So I have to look for better rules to seperate these flies Robert Heemskerk attached the following image: [25.83Kb] Edited by Robert Heemskerk on 17-03-2015 22:31 Greeting, Robert Heemskerk ---- WWW: http://robertheem...ndedag.htm --- |

Yes, you do. This feature varies at a generic level. Theo |
