Hello everyone. I met this fly in Tver (central European Russia) in a forest park. Is it Phaonia? Is it possible to ID species from such photos?

Thank you very much. I didn't know about that fly and it is indeed the best fit based on coloration. Although it is so similar to some Phaonia species I don't think I'll be able to distinguish them safely in future... |
