I've only one photo of this tachinid fly. It has the size of an Ernestia rudis or Blepharipa pratensis. Photo 19-5-2014, Bergen, The Netherlands. Regards, Thijs thijsdegraaf attached the following image: [120.46Kb] Edited by thijsdegraaf on 21-05-2014 21:49 http://www.tuin-t...engels.htm |

I could believe Blepharipa. Let's wait for Theo to confirm though

Thanks Chris I will wait. Mostly it's not a problem to recognize Blepharipa pratensis when I see this fly in our garden. But this one I had seen for some seconds, it was disappeared after the photo. Regards, Thijs Edited by thijsdegraaf on 20-05-2014 08:15 http://www.tuin-t...engels.htm |

Today I saw another Blepharipa pratensis. This time I had more time to look and to photograph. Thijs thijsdegraaf attached the following image: [69.5Kb] http://www.tuin-t...engels.htm |

Yes, that is a sound call. Never realized that Blepharipa might look like Panzeria rudis ! But it does in this picture, (but it isn't) Theo |

Panzeria rudis = Ernestia rudis. A woman this time? I had some doubts, but I saw no other possibility. I was so happy that I recognized the male Ernestia rudis the last time. And now I'm wrong again. Thanks Theo! Thijs http://www.tuin-t...engels.htm |

Yes Panzeria = Ernestia Ahh, I'm confused Theo - which are you agreeing with? Is this Blepharipa? Manager of the UK Species Inventory in the Angela Marmont Centre for UK Biodiversity at the Natural History Museum, London. |

I'm confused too, but I'm glad I wasn't wrong after all. Thijs http://www.tuin-t...engels.htm |
