Hello, [English speaking is rather difficult to me, since I'm French, I learned English at school 30 years ago and I never used this language from this time ] I'm the newest member ! My fly has been identified as Platypezidae by members of a French Forum "Le Monde des insectes" and I found an image of Callomyia amoena male in the Diptera.info Gallery. This is one of the three French species : the two others are C. elegans and C. speciosa. But with orange halters and these grey marks on the abdomen —> C. elegans ? The french forum specialists are OK for Callomyia and they told me to ask my question for the specie in this forum, where the Diptera greatest masters are living ! C. amoena is an option (C. speciosa has dark halteres) but males usually have silver markings (if any) on fore margins of abdominal tergites which apparently is not the case here so probably C. elegans. |

PlatYpezidae not Platipezidae I agree with Callomyia 100% and concerning species I'm with the opinion of Dima. Edited by jorgemotalmeida on 30-12-2008 17:35 |

Dear Bernadette, Your English is fine, better than my French was 40 years ago when I studied it, and much, much better than it is now, given that now it is not at all. Gordon |

I'm very happy from your answers because this Callomyia's image is the first one in "Le Monde des insectes" Gallery, and now we can add the species with genus. A big Thank you to Black and Jorge ! Gordon, it's very kind o you, mais je suis sûre que tu comprends encore un peu le français, is'n't it ? jorgemotalmeida wrote: PlatYpezidae Done Bernadette Edited by Cybernadette on 01-01-2009 13:03 |
