'Yellow' (orange) basicosta, very clear orange anterior spiracle, reddish genae, black beard - adds up to Calliphora vicina.

It is extremely kind and generous of you to say such things. Grin European Calliphora are a nice small group to concentrate on, and the forum has had a great deal of useful discussion on this genera. I am almost finished creating a table of characters for the 4 species that get mentioned most often ie vomitoria, vicina, loewii and uralensis. This is basically a collation of all the threads on the forum summarised for easy reference into a table to enable quick comparisons. If anyone would like a copy I am very happy to email it - just let me know either via the forum or with a pm.

The simple key sounds like a great idea.
It might help me and others to look better for special Calliphora.

Calliphora got my attention since my visit last summer to Altaj (Siberia), where nearly all specimens were special species (genarum, uralensis and so on). Only one vomitoria, no vicina at all !
Anybody going to the mountains should pay attention to any Calliphora.
