* large pit in the 3rd antennal segment - a bit larger than it is usual in B. scutellaris * pubescent arista * hyaline wings without any spots * tergites have no medial line (the last tergites have an indistinct dark mark in the lateral part) * anespisternum bare * pillose katepisternum mainly near the legs - whitish bristles. (very long near the base of the legs) - observed at 45x * black tarsi with these data is possible to know the possible species? Edited by jorgemotalmeida on 11-05-2013 08:16 |

It looks like Brachyopa scutellaris, especially the sensory pit. |

Thanks. Indeed it is most likely to be B. scutellaris. And the pit has a kidney shape as is typical in this species along with hyaline wings. All the features pointed out before seems to agree with this ID. |
