Hi everybody, I photographed this this morning 1 - April 2010 in a wet riverine forest along the Greek border with Bulgaria (Promahonas).

Syrphidae! Brachyopa sp. And probably B. scutellaris. One for the syrphid experts.

Of course it might not be a Lauxaniid, there is a definite lack of spines - anywhere - none along the wing edge either and the legs are the same - loads of small hairs but no spines
