Hello,

A Bibionidae in long grass, between a forest and a meadow, in North of France, at Cassel, the 16 April 2021
Possibly a female Bibio lanigerus ?
From my observations this year, the males of Bibio johannis seems to be more common in the meadow and Bibio lanigerus seems to be more common in the forest

Well, if it is common, get the males.

There is nothing to separate the females of these two species ?

Anyway, Thanks you very much, Theo ! Smile

I understand better now ! With this post it seems that my female seems to lead towards varipes rather than lanigerus but I never saw a single male Bibio varipes (yet) in more than 6 years... that where I understand the current difficulties with the females of Bibio johannis/lanigerus/varipes without at least a pairing with a male
So I will register this female as Bibio johannis/lanigerus/varipes

Thanks you so much, Theo ! Smile
