Photograph taken on 08 December, 2013, in the wetlands of the Suárez Pond, Motril, Granada, Spain. Immediate area of the Mediterranean coast. From shiny black appearance. Looks like Athyroglossa glabra, but I've no idea if there are look-alikes.

The fly has quite different association. It has strong dorsocentral setae, which exclude Gymnomyzinae (Athyroglossa) and Discomyzinae (Psilopa). It is a member of Hydrellinae and it is Typopsilopa. Only one Typopsilopa is known from Europe and it is T. kerteszi from Hungary. Tadek |
