It is a female, so i don't have to tell more..Sad.....
But, comparing with my flies, it could be the common Botanophila fugax, but i like to see all the characteristic marks...
B.fugax female has one pair of strong presutural acrostichals (as long as prealar)....not clear visible on your photos, ....and a strong row of "ad" on midfemur and two long av in middle...

There are more rows of hairs on occiput and strong and long ad + 2pd+2pv.....so Botanophila seems right.

Surtain Anthomyiidae
Almost surtain Botanophila
Unsurtain B.fugax

Thank you Joke, I had a closer look at the side view and cropped off the mid femur.

I have lightened the pic and I think it shows a strong row of ad. Is this enough? Grin

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
