Thanks..

The genus is Thriambeutes, in the tribe Rhinomyzini.
Those are the "weirdoos" of the Tabanidae.

Although the life history of this species is not known, the long ovipositor suggests that the larvae live in rotholes in trees, as in many other Rhinomyzini.
