I believe this is Tachinidae. Can anyone suggest a subfamily? Malaise trap, Townsville.

On my planet, this would be Chaetogena.

I just checked: on your planet, it is Chaetogena as well (as Stomatomyia in Crosskey).
You have two: acuminata (also ours) and tricholygoides.

Checking ALA Chaetogena is not listed but Chetogena micropalpis is listed. I'm confused. Are Chaetogena and Chetogena synonyms?
How did you check?

Under the code of zoological nomenclature "Chaet-" and "Chet-" are homonyms. The correct spelling is whichever was used first, in this case
Chetogena.

This depends on your defintion of ' correct'.
According to the lawyers of the Code, the correct spelling is Chet-, indeed.
However, the really correct spelling, it is Latin, after all, is ' Chaet-' .
As i have explained before, I am in the habit of correcting Rondani's spelling mistakes. I think it is unscientific not to.
Everybody can feel free to disagree and take the other choice, I want condemn those.
