Hello,
I am still trying to find some
Calliphora non-
vicina.
C. vomitoria is relatively easy to distinguish from
vicina, but other species are very difficult for me to recognize. If I remember correctly, the light wing basis (what is the technical term for it?; I can't recall), marked with an arrow on the photo below, is characteristic for
Calliphora vicina?
I have taken many photos since July, I can't upload them all. Some I have posted here:
http://insektenfo...tID=307525.
They are also bigger (up to 1800x1350 pixels) than possible here. I would be very grateful, if somebody could have a look at them and tell me, if he/she finds a specimen that is
not C. vicina. Thanks in advance!

You are right about the yellow basicosta being characteristic of
vicina. I don't know about north-west Germany, but here in south-east England the two species of
Calliphora you mention are the only two we expect to see.

Thank you, Howard! The term 'basicosta' was what I missed...

Hi Juergen,
The other speices are either boreal or mountaineous or both.
You are not likely to meet them in Central Germany.

Thanks, Theo! I had read, these other species could occur here sometimes, especially in winter.
