Photos taken in Reading, UK, on 2012-09-21.

I think this might be a male Muscina levida. Is this correct?

Muscina is correct.
M. pascuorum, I think.

Interesting. Muscina pascuorum is not listed in the NBN Gateway nor in the Muscidae volume of the RHS Handbook. However, it is listed in the checklist at Dipterists Forum which includes a note saying "Restored from Excluded Species by Skidmore & Pont (2008)". Were these flies previously included in another species?

It seems to me that palpi are rather yellow? In this case:

Yes, I did notice that other pictures of pascuorum had reddish bases to their antennae (a bit like prolapsa but not as noticable). Thanks, anyway.
