A male Phaonia found in León province (NC Spain) on 02.V.2016. I am puzzled. My first impression when saw the fly was Phaonia serva. However, some bits don't fit. I think I see 4 dc, mouth protrudes too much (I think), calypters aren't orangy colour at all... perhaps just an aberrant?? I cannot get to anything convincing with the keys Sad Help, please!!

Thanks a lot for whatever input Wink

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
