Hi, photographed this Mosquito biting me during daylight hours in the afternoon, in the North West UK. Habitat was grassland with boggy areas and close to a river, and woodland close by. Hoping someone may be help with the species, or at least genus level? I posted it on facebook in a Diptera group and Ochlerotatus/Aedes annulatus was suggested, but I've added more photos so hoping someone can confirm that?. Thank you!

Identified as Ochlerotatus annulipes by Tony Irwin - Thank you! : )

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
