The modified fore femur makes it Hydrotaea.

with Gregor. F et all (2002) Muscidae of Central Europe I have arrived at Hydrotaea cyrtoneurina as halters black, wings clear, eyes densely haired, mid tibia no AD, parafacial widt about same as width flagellomere, hind femur no ventral spine, and chaetotoxy on hind tibia and mid tibia as described for H. cyrtoneurina ...unless there is a related Hydrotaea species for this part of Europe which not occurs in Central Europe and which also fits the description.
Is my conclusion correct??

If you have the specimen it would be useful to know

Number of pre ac setae?
Any white grey dusted vittae on scutum?
Number of av, ad and pv on tibia 3?

I think an ID will then be easier

Thank you for your kind attention.

There are 2 pair of pre-sutural AC;

Dusting on scutum as seen from behind consists of two parallel stripes bordered bij the row of DC, mainly visible pre-sutural and fading out in post sutural part. Also slight dusting on notopleuron and posterial part of humerus.

On hind tibia I see 4 AV (on distal half), 2 AD, and 5 PV and 3+ smaller thinner hairs.

There should be 6 or more av setae on tibia 3 for cyrtoneurina (+others)

if yes can you give me a photo of the prescutum (dorsal view) and check that there are no ad setae on tibia 2, both sides and if small

I will show a picture of tibia 3. I see now clearly 6 AV. I had confused two in the basal half as no AV as they are more ventral directed but I see now that the inplant is at AV.

Thank you for your continued attention.
Do you mean by p seta only p by excluding pv and pd or all p seta including pv, p and pd?

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
