Hi,

I don't imagine that this specimen is identifiable, but I'm sure someone can name any possibilities? At least I can recognise a broad dark band on the goldy* scutum. Maybe this helps...who knows!

Thanks in advance for your help!

* I'm really wondering if only the word silvery does exist, but not its golden equivalent... and for what reason Wink - I use it anyway.

It looks more like an Eumerus female to me, something similar to E. strigatus.
Greetings,
Henrik

You're right! Somehow I didn't ever notice that genus...until now, and it looks a lot like that. Many thanks, Henrik!

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
