Habitat was open grassy area with sparse tree cover.

I don't recognize them. The convergent wing veins suggest starting by looking at Asteiidae and Xenasteia. |

After reading the paper where Xenasteia was described, I see these flies are similar to X. okinawensis. In the original paper that species was distinguished by the yellow legs and base of abdomen contrasting with shining metallic thorax and remainder of abdomen. There is more recent work on the genus which I have not seen. Possibly many species have similar color. |
