In the tribe of Tachinini, abdomens are highly variable.
I have very great differences in my collection, the following species (Tachina casta, T. fera, T. magnicornis, Peleteria abdominalis, P. rubescens).
Here the abdomen of four females T. praeceps collected.

Most females (in my collection) are actually much darker, with a continuous black vitta. However, at least two females in my collecition are similar, so I don't think there is a problem. The variability is large, indeed.

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
