Not Sciomyzidae. When Sciomyzidae have long antennae the basal segments are long. In this case the last segment (first flagellomere aka postpedicel) is long. Looks like Loxocera (Psilidae). You will find similar antennae in Lauxania (Lauxaniidae), but that genus has more bristles. |

Are there any views that might help to get a species ID or is this impossible from a picture? |

Loxocera is a bit tricky - compare http://www.dipter...tford.html and the discussion in http://www.dipter...d_id=62718. As the humeri are black, the frons mainly dark, and the face below the antennae apparently yellow, I'd vote for L. albiseta. In this case the arista should be distinctly plumose. Shatalkin & Merz (2010) (http://biostor.or...nce/134801) treat this species together with some other European ones as belonging to genus Imantimyia. Regards, Sundew |
