This time you are more lucky…..this is Hydrophoria.
(arista long haired, lower calypter seems projecting beyond upper one and scutellum covered with setulose hairs)
The abdomen with foremarginals bands and prealar shorter than posterior notopleural point out to Hydrophoria ruralis / silvicola.
In H. ruralis the abdomen are yellowish at base and tibia at basal half also yellowish.
In H. silvicola the abdomen without yellowish color at base and with the tibia dark.
On your photos we can see the yellowish tibia, but without any yellowish coloring at base of the abdomen.
Personally I collected several H. ruralis in wich the abdomen also where without this strong yellowish base ………so I would say for now; Hydrophoria cf. ruralis.

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
