Sorry, I can't see any typical characters that could lead to a genera or species, so for me, it just will keep ..female Anthomyiidae.

With typical characters I mean for example:

Arista haired or not
Special color of the thorax / abomen
Broad gena
Special legs chaetotaxy
Eyes haired or not
The characters visible on your photos are to general and could lead to many genera, so I would have to guess, without any scientific value to it.
Also…it is a female and they can look all the same on photos in several genera.

Just more luck next time…
Johanna

thanks a lot for taking your time here, Johanna..... one step on the ladder from luck to knowledge .
I must say , in this special case I had no doubt for an ID because of the yellow abdomen in ventral view...I 've not noticed that on pictures from Anthomyiidae in the gallery, ...but thats maybe just because of lack of ventral views and a very normal character....

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
