I met this fly in decidous forest near by Łódź ( Poland ). Was march first. Calliphoridae, i suppose - but absolutely not sure.

My guess is Redtenbacheria insignis (Tachinidae).

Rafalk, Did I understand correctly that you took the pictures on March 1 th of this year ?? That is pretty weird. As is the fly, it is something weird and Redtenbacheria might be an excellent suggestion: the tibiae should be yellow, though. But structurally it is pretty similar ! Theo |

Was March 1st, indeed. Tibiae predominantly black, but the middle parts are brownish/yellowish. When I meet up with Cezary Bystrowski ( polish specialist ), I will ask for opinion. Thanks for suggestion. |

Well, I consulted Dr. Tschorsnig in Stuttgart and he has strong doubts. I think with good reason. Not only the colouration is off, also there are strong apical scutellar bristles present, which are not in Redtenbacheria (check tachinidae.eu). So.... It must be something else. It might still be a Calliphoridae or even a Muscidae ?? Theo |
