I have a comment. The eyes are hairy. Will it a genus Phorocera? Species Phorocera grandis?

Dear Karol

You are totally right. The eyes are hairy. Moreover, I just noted the record is from August, which excludes Blepharipa and, by the way, Phorocera. Please forget about PHorocera, it is twice as elongated as this guy (have a look a the gallery).

So, it is a species I did never find myself, it is more eastern: Nemoraea pellucida, a male.

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
