Hi,

is this a Tipula or a different genus? Is the species identifiable?

Thanks again,

Lennart

Hi Jürgen, thank you, seems to be right.
On a well-known German photographer's website I just read as a caption "T. cf. lateralis", but otherwise on a dutch site another photographer wrote, T. lateralis would be very easy to identify. So who's right...(it seems that none of them is an expert) - are there similar species?
Maybe someone can answer this.
Greetings,
Lennart

Hello Lennart,

I personally don't know similar species from Germany. But I am no expert...
Best regards,
Jürgen

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
