Hello Andreas,

This is indeed a male Eumerus. However, the base of the third femur is not visible. So E. funeralis cannot be excluded. The ocellar triangle does however, exclude E. sogdianus. The best way is to identify the specimen is to examine the genitalia.

Greetings,

Ectemnius

I had found another pic who shows the base of the hind femur.

Now it looks good for Eumerus funeralis?

Andreas

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
