I think this is a Sylvicola (Sylvicola) sp. but it is the first time I try to ID any of these Sad Can it be confirmed? Any chance of telling which species? Or which sex? Any help or input will be most welcome Wink

Found in mixed woodland (mainly chestnut trees and oak) in Asturias, N Spain on 19.X.2014.

Thanks in advance!! Smile

Thanks a lot for the confirmation, John!! Smile Smile

Any chance of knowing which species is it? Here in Spain, it should be either cinctus or fenestralis. But I am unable to tell the difference Sad

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
