Here is another of the fly species as photographed on my recent trip to Cyprus as Botanical leader. This very smart species (and the next posting which looks very similar - same genus? but I hope different species) both seemed very common. This one was found at Korucam Burnu on 27 March. It is c.10mm and as is evident this one has the entire end of the wings dark. I have retained the specimen if it would be of interest to anyone. ~This was another species that seemed to like Glebionis (Chrysanthemum) coronarium flowers. Any suggestions as to identification greatly appreciated. Many thanks Alan Alan Outen attached the following image: ![]() [64.29Kb] Edited by Alan Outen on 04-04-2012 18:28 |

Ulidiidae, Dorycera I'd say.

I agree with Paul. It is a Dorycera sp. For more, Valery can go further. Dorycera is being revised.. |

Wow. Thank you both! That was incredible. I was still making a posting of what I think is a related species and your replies came in before I sent! I will look forward to hopefully hearing from Valery. Thank you again Alan |

I'd say Dorycera maculipennis male, waiting for Valery.

Thank you Stephane - another coincidence as I had just typed your name as perhaps able to help with my final Cyprus species when your suggestion came in on this one. Alan |
