French Guianan asilid or stratiomyid????

This is another of the long-running series of photos from Stephane Brule, in French Guiana. Could anyone suggest a name or at least confirm the family? To me it has some features of asilids and stratiomyids so I am confused

Thanks Eric ... I just couldn't quite make out any "beak" but I thought it should be an asilid ... nice to know I wasn't far off
