I missed this posting the first time round - it is not Calliopum simillimum

This could be Calliopum sp or Lauxania (but I don't think this is cylindricornis?)

In Northwest Europe telling the two genera apart is easy, Lauxania has a very long third antennal segments, in Calliopum it is shorter (but still longer than most Lauxanniidae). Outside Northwest Europe, I believe it is not so clear cut with some debate as to what actually separates the two genera. I seem to recall Shatalkin saying it should be done on features of the genitalia and not the third antennal segment length?

If anyone reading this in Eastern or Southern Europe has any spare specimens of Calliopum and Lauxania they would be warmly welcomed by me in the UK?

Mark
