Identification of this caused some problems. Based on the postpedicel (has 3 spines with room for one more between spine 1 and 2), the gonocoxite and the hypandrium it agrees with B. subneglecta (Vaillant 1983: Die Fliegen der Palearktischen Region 328: 336-343). The gonostylus, the eye bridge and the frontal scar patch are, however, more similar to the figures of B. neglecta.
