Hello Collected 14 03 10, they were many, collected three, size 14 to 17 mm. In the group prompta/rubenscens, I think the palps are short compared to jorge's thread http://www.dipter...d_id=24583 . Thus prompta? pic1 christoophe attached the following image: [73.93Kb] Edited by christoophe on 15-03-2010 14:04 |

In Tschorsnig & Herting it uses the presence/absence of a dark longitudinal stripe along the sternites ... but I must admit to being very confused about Peleteria in southern Europe as a whole ... I haven't found a copy of the Peleteria section in Mesnil in Lindner So I will be watching this thread with interest Manager of the UK Species Inventory in the Angela Marmont Centre for UK Biodiversity at the Natural History Museum, London. |

Christoophe has the right features, but upside down: short palpus implies NOT prompta / rubescens. I agree the palpus looks short, morover, the second antennal segment is black in prompta / rubescens and here it is clearly reddish. So we move on to the ruficornis group. DC 3 + 4, parafacialia at least as broad as in rubescens, claws somewhat elongated, and other features like shape of third antennal segment clearly points to... male P. meridionalis. Not in my collection. Congratulations. Theo |

Wow Theo: can we find that Peleteria key anywhere or is it just in your head? My scan of Die Fliegen doesn't seem to have Peleteria Manager of the UK Species Inventory in the Angela Marmont Centre for UK Biodiversity at the Natural History Museum, London. |
