Based on the protuding fore head, strong av on midtibia and general appearance, I would say..Phorbia. Johanna Edited by javanerkelens on 04-05-2013 22:04 |

Thanks Johanna! Could it be a male of Phorbia longipilis? Pentti |

Sorry, I made a mistake about the dichoptic eyes, so I removed it at my previous answer ....(is in Chirosia) Phorbia has the normal sexual dimorfisme. I also looked again on your previous thread; http://www.diptera.info/forum/viewthread.php?thread_id=54323 and I think this also could be Phorbia (male), and this will be the female .Photographed on the same place? The legs chaetotaxy is not strong and maybe we have to look in the direction of Phorbia fumigata / unipila. But......as you probable guess, we have to look at the genitals. If possible, maybe collect some species (male specimen) and just send them to me....or try it yourself (with more male specimen, you just can experiment to pull out the genitals and never be afraid to make a mess of it.....practice makes the man...or in my case , woman)

Shape of ovipositor seems Phorbia indeed. This is a female and they are to difficult to ID.... from photos. Johanna |
