This fly didn't stay posed for long, but I did get this one photo showing the fly with a "hitch-hiker." I did not notice the hitch-hiker at the time I took the photo. I don't know if this looks right for a pseudoscorpion (all the images I can find show their dorsum) but I can't think of anything else this could be. As for the fly, I think it is the same species I have posted before, which Andrzej was kind enough to identify as Scoliocentra helvola (with a note that taxonomic changes may be coming in and around this genus). True that this is a pseudoscorpion? Stephen attached the following image: [73.28Kb] --Stephen Stephen Cresswell www.americaninsects.net |

A second view. The pseudoscorpion is that pinkish blob behind the rear leg on the left side.

Yes, it's a pseudoscorpion alright. I won't even begin to put a name to it (recent experience with Nearctic identifications have made me wary! ) Tony ---------- Tony Irwin |

Thanks Tony! This was my first pseudoscorpion. Now to find another so I can photograph the other side!
